How's my driving? Let me know what I'm doing wrong here! I welcome any constructive crit, as long as it relates to this character or my conduct in regards to RP. If crit is needed for another character I play please leave it in the HMD in their journal.
The only request I have is that any crit sent be civil. I roleplay for fun, and really won't put up with hostilities over something like this.

On Comment Screening:
I do not screen comments because I believe in being transparent in regards to the crit I receive. In my eyes keeping the crit public holds me accountable to the changes that I need to make in order to improve, should the crit bring about points in my characterization or conduct that I need to improve on. Please consider using this HMD with a sock or anonymously if you have reservations on being associated with your crit. Thanks for understanding!

There's something to be said for just how much Steven reminds the Crystal Gems of his mother, Rose Quartz. He reflects a great deal of her personality, her love, her warmth, her curiosity -- and many other smaller quirks. But at the same time, Steven is also his own person, his humor, his musical talent and his humanity are all his, passed down from his father. These combined traits all make him a unique little boy, despite being the one who inherited Rose's gem.
Overall, Steven's personality is a positive one. Though Steven's age is only as he perceives it to be, he acts much like a normal child of his apparent age. This includes his open heart, and his gregarious personality. He can be loud and energetic, and is always quick with puns or creative activities for him and the other Crystal Gems to do together. (Much to their sometimes mixed reaction.) This open, outgoing facet of his personality is reflected in his pursuit and interest in music. He loves performing for others, and has done so for a large group of people -- with the Gem's help of course.
Unlike the other Crystal Gems, who are rather awkward when it comes to how to interact within human society, Steven does a much better job of it. It's likely a combination of him interacting with them more and being half human himself. He gets along with quite many of the people who live in Beach City, and acts much like a kid his age would when interacting with them. At the same time, he has a very familial relationship with all three of the Gems, Garnet being the one he listens to the most easily. Pearl is the one who teaches him the most, and possibly the most motherly of the three to him. Amethyst is his biggest playmate of the three gems, and has on occasion encouraged him in a direction that got him into trouble.
Steven is naive to an extent, perhaps because of his age and inexperience. This means he can be a little gullible, but it's also part of what makes him endearing. It contributes a lot to the other aspects of his personality, but he never comes of as stupid because of it. Part of this naivety is reflected in the way he goes about protecting others at times. In particular, his desire to protect Connie from the dangers the Gems face meant he tried to cut off his friendship from her -- it seemed as though it was the only way in order to protect the person he cared a lot about. As well as protective, Steven is also very encouraging of those he cares about, and oftentimes winds up as a cheerleader for those who are going through hard times in their life.
Steven is very good at making friends, or at least he's very good at accepting people as his friends. Accepting is a good way of putting it, considering his openness and ability to welcome just about anyone into a friendship. This includes more difficult characters like Lars, for example. Though the older boy doesn't quite seem as willing to be friends with Steven, Steven's big hearted and outgoing nature means that STEVEN considers Lars a friend regardless. It has slowly worn down Lars' more prickly attitude towards the younger boy and at this point it's fair to say that he too considers Steven a friend. Onion is another, much stranger, friend of Steven's. Though this friendship is one that Steven isn't even sure he wants sometimes -- considering how strange Onion is. Despite this, Steven manages to see the good things in Onion's personality despite the weirdness that seems to surround the strange boy. Because of his friendly nature, even to his enemies, Steven extends his friendly nature to his enemies at times as well. In particular, he's not at all hostile to Peridot, and even takes to making a pet out of one of the monsters he and the other gems had fought together earlier.
Despite how much of a positive, bright influence Steven is for others and for himself, there are times when even he manages to get down. Most interestingly, Steven harbors a great deal of guilt and unrest about his existence and the resulting lack of Rose Quartz because of it. At one time he was more open to approaching the other Crystal Gems about his mother and this topic, but as time has gone on and several instances occurred where Steven has slowly started to close off this particular worry from the Crystal Gems. His reasoning is mixed, wanting to protect them while at the same time his guilt from taking Rose Quartz has made it increasingly more difficult to talk to them about it. He greatly wants to be the Gem his mother wanted him to be, and again feels as though he's not quite living up to that just yet.
Overall, Steven is a bright source of happiness and life in a lot of people's lives, but he still has a lot of maturing to go through in order to reach his full potential as a crystal gem, and as himself. In the meantime though, he's going to have a good time, and fight alongside the Crystal Gems to protect Beach City and the planet he loves and has grown up on.
Abilities:
Half-Gem :: Steven is a half gem. Gems are an alien race of creatures based on ... well, gems. Steven happens to be the child of Rose Quartz; a gem, and Greg Universe; a human. All of what this means hasn't been fully revealed, but it does mean he shares a lot of general abilities with Gems, but perhaps not all. He has several Gem based abilities he got from his mother, but it is unknown if he can do things like regenerate from his gem. Steven's age is also one that fluctuates, as it is based on Steven's own perception of how old he is and his own mental maturity. Steven, as a gem, should be able to shape shift into anything he wants -- but has yet to do so successfully (the only time he tried wound up being quite distressing, and he has not tried since.) He also sometimes displays feats of strength a child of his size is unable to do.
Also, because of his status as a half-gem, technology used to subdue gems does not seem to work on him other than to cause minor discomfort. This is an unknown skill until it's put to the test when he and the other crystal gems are trying to escape a spaceship. Steven also seems to be able to fuse like gems do, though he has only fused with Connie, a human. This seems to be an ability unique to him because of his human side.
Rose Shield:: Steven can manifest and use Rose's shield, because he has Rose's gem. This goes for any of Rose's abilities, though to varying levels of proficiency. By this point in canon however, it seems that Steven has gotten the hang of summoning Rose's shield.
Healing :: Another ability from his mother. Her tears could heal the wounds of others, and it seems that Steven can do the same (though it also seems to be his spit, not tears, that can do it...) He has used this ability several times in canon but currently it seems because he has lost his confidence in this ability he is unable to use it, though it may come back at a later time.
Plant Sentience:: Steven is able to grow and create plants that will do his bidding, but he is not very good at this, and the only time he did it it was quite by accident and had... humorous but rather disastrous results.
Bubble Shield:: Steven is able to summon a bubble that serves as a shield around him and whoever is inside of it. It is impenetrable, and can even protect him under water. Most of the time, his summoning of the bubble is reflexive, especially when he is in danger.
Alignment:
Daimonia. This took a while to figure out, actually. While Steven has quite possibly the biggest heart in the world, and is very similar to his mother in loving all things, his personality leans more towards the jubilant, extroverted side and he's always acting with great excitement. On the flip side, there is a part of steven that can get down -- particularly in regards to his mother and the situation surrounding her not being around. He doesn't really embody "hate" or anything along those lines very well at all. Since he can represent both sides of Daimonia's coin, I'm going with that.
